Bells have a deep symbolic meaning associated with the mind and the expansion of consciousness. The reverberation of the bell is used to help disengage the mind so that it becomes receptive.  It represents the mind’s ability to ascend conscious awareness and tap into the wisdom of our higher consciousness – which is boundless.

The church bells that ring out on Sunday morning were also originally intended to purify the whole parish through sound and lead the community from everyday space into worship – just as the Shaman’s drum can lead us on sacred journeys into the world of the spirits.  In Buddhism, the resonance of a bell signifies ‘pure wisdom’ because the sound is one of perfect harmony and clarity.  All of this to say that the holy sound is to create a certain energy that invites the mind to open up to receive.

The sound of the bell helps create peace and inner calmness.  In Feng Shui, it is believed that hanging a few bells at the entrance of your house introduces harmony, spirit and motion. Ringing a bell while walking around your house can help break the stagnant energy in your sacred space;  the sound invites positive energy.  You may have heard that ringing a bell protects you by warding off negativity.

Bells are like the Voice of God, The Goddess and/or a Deity you are inviting to communicate with.  A bell with a lovely tone will call beautiful, healing energy to you and help you tune into your inner voice – the Divine energy and wisdom that resides in you.

Your higher consciousness – is always  waiting to communicate with you.  You just have to tune in and listen.
