The Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute #CCCADI is opening its doors to the public on October 15th to October 16th with a weekend packed with activities celebrating our new home. Make history with us as we establish the Center in the international African Diaspora community of El Barrio/East Harlem, the historical home of artistic brilliance and creation.

HOME, MEMORY, AND FUTURE | OPENING EXHIBITIONS
Renowned curator, Lowery Stokes Sims joins Yasmin Ramirez, Marta Moreno Vega and Regina Bultrón Bengoa in curating a 3-part exhibit centered on the theme of HOME. A variety of artists and mediums, including the latest in #augmentedreality, explore home in the age of gentrification, dislocation, migration, exile, belonging, health and unaffordable housing.

OPEN HOUSE NEW YORK FESTIVAL “HARLEM’S CULTURAL HISTORY-UNITING COMMUNITIES – CULTURAL SPACES
From East to West, the heartbeat of Harlem–125th Street–once bustled with theaters, clubs and other music venues that embraced African American and Latino artists and audiences. As part of the Open House New York Weekend, the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute and the Apollo Theater explore West Harlem’s rich musical and cultural history. Speakers: Historians Richard Blondet, Henry Medina, Ralph Mendez, and John Reddick

A traditional opening honoring ancestors and sacred forces with libation by traditional leaders Babalorisha John Mason, Iyalorisha Angela Fontanez, and Babalorisha Paulo Bispo. Performances by Amma McKen with Roman Diaz and Cimarron, Something Positive, Trinidad.
