A Brazilian Sunset Session at the Andrew Freedman Mansion :: Fundraiser for CUFA Bronx (9.10.16)
A Celebration of Brazilian MUSIC – FOOD – CULTURE
Sunset at the Mansion parties are fundraisers to help Cufa Bronx provide community programs at low or no cost. Free classes currently include: percussion and music engineering.
Cufa Bronx is the New York branch of Central Única das Favelas, a grassroots organization founded in Rio de Janeiro’s favela communities. Heading up Cufa Bronx at its headquarters in the historic Andrew Freedman Mansion are long-time community workers and musicians Jon “Phes” Souza and Luis Fernando “Eli Efi” Silva.
The mansion itself has a remarkable, bittersweet history which is definitely worth the wiki!
Co-Host, Jen Nascimento aka DJ Tia Jenny (Singer, Percussionist and DJ) and Erminia Apolinario, will be warming up the party with a groovy samba jam session (the kind you might hear at a corner bar in any Brazilian town).
Erminia Apolinario: Brazilian Musician/Singer is also a professional chef and will be vending fresh Afro-Brazilian soul food!
Culture & Music Maven Joann Jimenez will also join the festivities with her soul-soothing display of aromatherapy, crystal healing and other natural healing elements from her EVERYTHiNG SOULFuL boutique.
Saturday, September 10th, our special guest will be El Bachatín with a live set to get everybody dancin!
Plus! DJs will be spinning Hip Hop, Soul, Future Bass, Latin, Afro-Pop and Tribal House throughout the evening.
Don’t forget to BYOB 🙂
