What a summer!  2016 saw the Makossa Brooklyn Cookout do two monster day jams at Our Wicked Lady in Bushwick, two beautiful collaborations with our Freedom Party fam (Industry City / The Well), a short but sweet appearance at the Afro-Latino Festival in Bed-Stuy and a popup / afterparty for the Loiza Festival up in Harlem. It’s been one of our biggest years and we couldn’t do it without your support. Thank you to anyone and everyone who has been to #MakossaBK this year. Now, let’s put a fat exclamation mark on this with our season finale on Saturday, September 3. That’s right. Labor Day Weekend on The Roof of Output in Williamsburg.

Unfortunately, two of our residents, Wonway Posibul and Shinobi Shaw won’t be able to make this one due to scheduling conflicts. However, DJ Tara will be joined by four very special guests all representing a varied range of styles and locales. The drinks will be cold, the sound will be on point, and the vibes will be just right. Come help us wrap up what has been a beautiful NYC summer. We’re pretty sure this will be one for the books.

2016 marks the Makossa Brooklyn Cookout enjoying its seventh consecutive summer. Still considered one of the best outdoor summer soirees in Brooklyn (and officially voted one of the 20 Best Summertime Parties in NYC by Time Out New York in 2014), Wonway Posibul of Latin Soul Brothers links up with NYC-based event promotion team Rare Form to bring his famous Makossa sound from San Francisco to NYC to create a bi-coastal vibe like none other. The monthly cookouts have garnered a loyal following, a multitude of acclaim and success since its birthplace, the backyard of Fresthetic, a boutique / gallery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
